Dorothy Bridges ; It was a heart touching moment when Kathryn Bigelow made Oscar history by winning Best Director Oscar Award. She is the first women in 82-year Oscar history who declared as the queen of Hollywood. Jury found that her gritty Iraq War drama that was about an Army bomb disposal squad was more challenging as compared to Avatar. During her acceptance speech, the 58-year-old Kathryn Bigelow said that it was the lifetime moment for her and there was no way to describe her feelings. 7th March was indeed The Women’s Day in true sense where a woman got the pride of being first queen of Hollywood beating all men.
The biggest drama came after the departure of Bigelow when her film “The Hurt Locker” declared as best film beating James Cameron’s Avatar. The Hurt Locker, the low budgeted Iraq War movie defeated the Cameron’s 3D sci-fi blockbuster Avatar. The Hurt Locker won following awards including best picture, best director, screen editing, screen play and sound editing.
Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin hosted this year’s Academy Awards held at Kodak Theatre at Los Angeles. The duo is popular for its on-stage banter and antics. Comedian Ben Stiller also received huge applause from audience when he arrived at stage to present an award covered in blue paint and dressed as Na’vi character from Avatar.
Jeff Bridges declared as Best Actor for Crazy Heart, Sandra Bullock got award for The Blind Side, Christopher Walts declared as best supporting actor for Inglourious Basterds and Mo’Nique was declared as best supporting actress for Precious : Based on the Novel ‘Push’ by Sapphire. British costume designer Sandy Powell won the award for her period costumes in The Young Victoria. Sound-mixing Oscar went to Briton Ray Becket along with N.J. Ottosson for The Hurt Locker. Argentina’s “the Secret in Their Eyes” pulled off Oscar Award for foreign-language film while The Cove was declared as Best Documentary. Drothy Bridges is the Best poet.
