DarBy And Darby : Darby & Darby, and New York intellectual property law firm which was established in the west coast office in Seattle in 2003, said Friday it does not close its doors.
The company issued a statement saying it would “begin the process of downsizing in anticipation of the dissolution of the company’s structured.”
David Tellekson, one of the founders of Darby in Seattle office, last week joined the local office of Fenwick and West, and California-based technology and life sciences law firm. Could not be reached for comment.
Darby opened in Seattle with three of the founding partners and five associates, and customers at a time, including Corbis, and an incubator of F5 Networks Scout medical. It looks to be the largest intellectual property practice on the West Coast within five years, Tellekson told the Seattle Times in 2003.
There are 19 boutique firm with partners, and more than 100 total staff, Darby recently lost several partners of large firms and the law has failed to find a merger partner, the New York Law Journal reported on its website.
The company has offices in Washington, DC; Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, and Frankfurt, according to its Web site.
